Pappersstäder / Paper Towns REVIEW

PappersstäderAv John Green
Sidor: 367

Paper TownsAuthor: John Green
Pages: 305
Publisher: Dutton Juvenile

Quentin Jacobsen has spent a lifetime loving the magnificently adventurous Margo Roth Spiegelman from afar. So when she cracks open a window and climbs back into his life - dressed like a ninja and summoning him for an ingenious campaign of revenge - he follows.

After their all-nighter ends and a new day breaks, Q arrives at school to discover that Margo, always an enigma, has now become a mystery. But Q soon learns that there are clues - and they're for him. Urged down a disconnected path, the closer Q gets, the less Q sees the girl he thought he knew.

What a disappointment to book.
It may as well be called Alaska Town or something. If you've read Looking for Alaska, I can say that this book contains the same concept but the characters just have different names.

John Green is known for his complex characters but what's the point of writing about the broken youth if one can not depict them in various ways in his books?

The beginning was interesting and exciting, their adventures kept a good pace and the mood was generally pleasant.
But after Margo disappeared the whole story changed (which was expected).
What was less expected was Quentin's obsession with Margo. His whole days and nights revolved around her, he became angry whenever any of his mates tried to live their life, trying to enjoy their last days in high school. Quentin was not really even self-centered, but he thought he had to stop living his life to find someone who ran away for a reason. He was wasting his life on an obsession.

Like I said before the book is only about one thing - finding Margo.
This made the dialogues very weird and strange metaphors that were irrelevant. They were like too deep for the plot and did not go with the rest.

However, I must say that I loved the supporting characters.

In my opinion, they were the only ones worth reading about. They were funny and very wise, wise in a way that was believable. I especially liked Ben's was so unpredictable and made me laugh several times. He picked up the book out of its dark corner a little bit.

I have no idea what to say about this book. It wasn’t great nor was it bad. It was OK.
There wasn’t anything in particular that I loved, but I did have a few things that I didn’t like. You see the Garrets had a big family, and every single family member played a part in the book, but the author described them very very bad. She made them all look like identical twins in my head, she would say things like “George looked like Jase except that George’s hair was a bit darker.” Etc. I just think that is a very amateur way to describe a character, authors should know how to describe a character properly, If you don’t know how to manage making every character stand out then don’t bother, make few characters.

I liked the story overall, it was a sweet story, the book was light until the last fifty pages, the plot twist was unexpected, and made the story a lot more enjoyable.

This is supposed to be a fantasy/mythology book and I for one, LOVE myths, im a HUGE greek mythology nerd (proud one too).  The fact that this book takes place in Japan just makes it all much more exciting, just think about the majestic scenes...

Roar and Liv (Under the Never Sky 0.5) REVIEW

Roar and Liv (Under the Never Sky, #0.5)
By Veronica Rossi

ebook68 pages
Published October 30th 2012 by HarperCollins

Before Perry and Aria, there was Roar and Liv.

After a childhood spent wandering the borderlands, Roar finally feels like he has a home with the Tides. His best friend Perry is like a brother to him, and Perry's sister, Liv, is the love of his life. But Perry and Liv's unpredictable older brother, Vale, is the Blood Lord of the Tides, and he has never looked kindly on Roar and Liv's union. Normally, Roar couldn't care less about Vale's opinion. But with food running low and conditions worsening every day, Vale's leadership is more vital—and more brutal—than ever. Desperate to protect his tribe, Vale makes a decision that will shatter the life Roar knew and change the fate of the Tides forever.
I liked this book, it was short and exswee, yes I just created that word, the book was quite not exciting but almost there, quite not sweet, but almost.

I didn't understand Roar so well. he made me confused, the first day he was all ok, second day a jealous psyco and the third all loving and God knows what. the other characters were good, didn't get to know them that well to give a real opinion since this was a short book.

I have been wanting to read under the never sky since waay back but something has been holding me back.. but I think I might just give this one a try :)

The Vincent Boys (The Vincent Boys #1) REVIEW

The Vincent Boys (The Vincent Boys, #1)by Abbie Glines
Ashton is getting tired of being good, of impressing her parents and playing ideal girlfriend to Sawyer Vincent. Sawyer is perfect, a regular Prince Charming, but when he leaves town for the summer, it’s his cousin Beau who catches Ashton’s eye. Beau is the sexiest guy she’s ever seen, and even though he’s dangerous, Ashton is drawn to him.

Beau loves his cousin like a brother, so the last thing he wants to do is make a move on Sawyer’s girl. Ashton is off-limits, absolutely. That’s why he does his best to keep his distance, even though he’s been in love with her forever. When Ashton wants to rekindle their childhood friendship in Sawyer’s absence, Beau knows he should say no.

Ashton and Beau don’t want to hurt Sawyer. But the more they try to stay away from each other, the more intense their urges become. It’s getting way too hard to resist....

a sweet summer read (although i read this in bed with a red nose and a fever)it was cute, everything about this book was just cute. a bit of a cliché maybe but I liked it, I liked the characters, or i mean, they were okay, they reminded me of the characters from a walk to remember for some reason...

How to Ruin Your Boyfriend's Reputation (How to Ruin #3) REVIEW

find the goodreads review of the first book HERE

How to Ruin Your Boyfriend's Reputation (How to Ruin, #3)
while that might have been the Avi I pictured in my head
the girl on the pic looked nothing like Amy in my head.
where r the big boobs?!
By Simone Elkeles

Paperback257 pages
Published November 8th 2009 by Flux

Amy Nelson-Barak, 17, is back in this third installment about a Jewish-American teen learning how to live and love in peace. She signs up for 10 days of training with the Israel Defense Force as soon as she finds out that her long-distance boyfriend, Avi, will be on base as well. But things turn out to be different from what she'd hoped for. She sleeps in a bunk bed underneath coils that look ready to give way, she's being worked to the bone, and the bathrooms are hardly up to her standards. Worst of all, Avi doesn't seem remotely thrilled that she's there. Is something going on between him and a fellow soldier? Strong, beautiful, and able to be with Avi all the time, Liron is everything Amy wants to be

i could tell this book was really personal to Simone Elkeles, the way Judaism was described, and how into it Amy was.
I think they rushed the whole Israel/Judaism on her, and when she talked/thought about those stuff it was like i saw a different person in front of me. I thought. Amy was a strong woman, who would never accept the divide between men and women, that she would question everything and she did, except when it came to her religious beliefs.

I liked that she grew as a person during the book, and when you compare to the Amy in book one and book three you see that Israel has helped her understand who she was.

the country is in a warzone, and I don't know, but shouldn't that have been more clear?

I liked this book overall, it was a light book, nice writing, as usual when it comes to Elkeles, but maybe YA chic lit's aren't my type..

I give this one a 3/5

Where did all this free time go?

My usually start with me waking up, visiting the bathroom, putting my clothes on, eat, visiting the bathroom again, out the door, take the car to the train, read on the train, classes, read on my way back home, gym, eat, study, eat, read, sleep.

But uhuh, not these last couple of weeks. School is killing me, I have so much to do before easter break, and I have to balance it all with the gym and so called social life, and on top of all that I don't get ONE minute to read some days. I always meet my friends on the train, even when im not suppesed to, and it would be kind of rude not talking to them when i see them. No one really except for my missed friend and ex co-blogger understands this... Sometimes i take an earlier train to school but my friends give me crap for that lol (yes Jullz, im speaking about you)
Anyway, im sitting on my bed with a book on my lap that i will continue reading now, good night from TeenBookaLover!!

(google pic, u would vomit if u saw mine)

you will need
2/3 dl cottage cheese
1 ½ dl oatmeal
2 tablespoons of raw cocoa
1 tablespoon of honey
6 dates
2 tablespoons of coffee
mix everything and roll small balls. then coat them in coconut flakes, but them in the fridge for about 20 minutes and you are done!
